YDT regularly commissions professional choreographers to create work for the company and teach on the intensive weeks during school holidays. In 2016-17 YDT students have worked with Gavin Coward (balletLORENT), Hit the Ground Running and Kelly Abbott Dance Theatre.

Sarah Morgan

Founder and Director
Sarah graduated from Northumbria University with a BA (Hons) in Dance Performance in 2002 and worked across the region as a freelance dance artist for organisations including Dance City and Stagecoach Theatre Arts. She joined Queen Elizabeth High School, Hexham in 2004 as teacher of dance, where she successfully introduced dance into the curriculum and she has moderated the GCSE dance course for AQA since 2006. Sarah is passionate about creating opportunities for young people to engage with dance in a nurturing and positive environment.

Michael Heatley

Dance Teacher/Choreographer
Michael Heatley is a choreographer and dance facilitator based in the North East, with over 15 years of teaching experience. Working with all age groups from children to adults, beginners to professionals Michael aims to develop physicality, creativity, confidence and musicality. Michael is the founder and Artistic Director of Hit The Ground Running Dance Theatre Company which was recently awarded a grant from Arts Council England to research and develop a professional physical theatre piece that challenges the stigma surrounding men's mental health.

Anthony Lo-Giudice

Dance Teacher/Choreographer
Anthony Lo-Giudice began his training at Newcastle College. Upon completing his BA Hons degree in Contemporary Dance, he studied at the se.s.ta coaching choreographers program in the Czech Republic under the mentorship of Jean Christophe Pare - director of the Ministry of Culture in Marseilles. Upon completion, he studied at The Royal Ballet School and Royal Opera House for his diploma in teaching, where he worked as part of their outreach program. Following this, he has understudied some of Scandinavia’s most prominent choreographers at Dansenshus Oslo and the Kulturhuset Stadsteaterns to develop his practice. He has worked extensively as a teacher, choreographer and dancer. Anthony also has his own company Lo-Giudice Dance, which tours contemporary dance work internationally and is based in the North East.

Pippa Wild

Dance Teacher/Choreographer
Pippa Wild was a member of YDT’s first cohort in 2008 and she has taught on the program since 2012. She studied dance at QEHS and Dance City’s Centre for Advanced Training, before graduating in 2012 with a (BA Hons) in Dance Performance from Middlesex University, London. Since moving back up to the North East Pippa has established herself as a freelance dance teacher, working with YDT and various schools across Northumberland.


All classes take place at Queen Elizabeth High School during term time.
